Indian Railways: Big announcements of Railways in the festive season, 12,500 coaches approved, general coaches increased in 108 trains.

New Delhi. The festive season is about to begin in India and big festivals like Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath will be celebrated in the coming days. During this time, lakhs of people from across the country return to their homes, due to which there is a huge crowd at the railway stations. Keeping this in mind, Indian Railways has made several important announcements for the convenience of passengers. On Friday, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav gave information about the preparations of the Railways for the upcoming festive season.

12,500 coaches approved, number of general coaches increased in 108 trains

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that this year the number of general coaches in 108 trains has been increased to handle the rush of passengers during the festive season. Apart from this, 12,500 additional coaches have been sanctioned for Chhath Puja and Diwali special trains. This will ensure that passengers do not face any inconvenience while traveling during the festival.

He also informed that a total of 5,975 trains have been notified so far in the financial year 2024-25, which will enable around 1 crore passengers to return to their homes during the puja rush. In contrast, last year 2023-24, 4,429 special trains were run during the festival season. This time Railways has arranged for more trains so that passengers can get more facilities.

Dates of upcoming major festivals

Festivals like Kanwar Yatra, Rakshabandhan and Ganesh Chaturthi have been completed in Shravan. Now preparations are being made for Durga Puja, which will run from October 3 to October 12. The festival of Dussehra will be celebrated on 12 October. After this, Dhanteras will be organized on 29th October, Diwali on 1st November and Chhath Puja will be organized from 5th November to 8th November. These announcements of Railways are a relief news for the passengers going home during the festive season, which will make their journey easier despite the crowd.
