Meenakshi Natarajan’s RS Nomination Cancelled: Shock to Congress before Rajya Sabha elections, nomination of Madhya Pradesh candidate Meenakshi Natarajan canceled
New Delhi. Even before the Rajya Sabha elections, Congress has suffered a major setback. The nomination of Congress candidate Meenakshi Natarajan in Madhya Pradesh has been cancelled. In fact, BJP had objected to the nomination form of Meenakshi Natarajan, alleging that she had not given information about the criminal case registered against her in Telangana. Also, Natarajan has not clearly mentioned his assets and bank balance in the nomination papers. The returning officer asked Meenakshi Natarajan to present her case. The Returning Officer was not satisfied with the explanation given by Meenakshi in this regard and rejected her nomination.

After the rejection of nomination of Meenakshi Natarajan, the political equations of Rajya Sabha elections have also changed. The victory of the BJP candidate on the third Rajya Sabha seat of the state is now almost certain. Let us tell you that on the basis of numerical strength, BJP was to get two seats and Congress had to get one seat. Keeping this in view, Congress had made only Meenakshi Natarajan its candidate. Whereas BJP had fielded three of its candidates. BJP first declared Tarun Chugh and Rajneesh Aggarwal as candidates and later brought a twist in the elections by fielding Mahesh Kewat.

Congress’s tension had increased due to BJP fielding a third candidate as there was a possibility of cross voting in the elections. However, now that the nomination of the Congress candidate has been cancelled, the victory of BJP’s Mahesh Kewat also seems almost final. Let us tell you that elections are to be held on 26 Rajya Sabha seats in 12 states on June 18. A total of 28 candidates are in the fray in this election. After voting, the result will also be declared on the same day.
