Beirut: Israel launched several missile strikes in the central area of Beirut on Saturday, killing at least 15 people and injuring several others. Lebanon's Civil Volunteer Organization said the death toll from the attack could rise as emergency rescue workers were still searching for people in the debris.
Israel has targeted the Lebanese capital for the fourth time in less than a week. This attack on Lebanon has been carried out at a time when US envoy Amos Hochstein visited the region this week to broker a cease-fire agreement between Israel and the extremist organization Hezbollah.
Lebanon's Health Ministry said 63 people were injured in the Israeli attacks. According to the ministry, so far more than 3,500 people have been killed in air strikes by Israel, while more than 15,000 people have been injured and about 12 lakh people have been displaced.

At the same time, Israel said that 90 of its soldiers and at least 50 civilians have been killed in the fighting with Lebanon. The attack on Beirut took place at 4 a.m. local time, destroying an eight-story building, according to Lebanon's state news agency.
