17 killed so far due to illegal firecracker blast in Bengal, police action continues; 77000 KG fireworks seized
In the last 10 days in West Bengal, a total of 17 people have died in the state due to blasts in illegal firecracker factories. 12 people have died in Agra, 3 in Bajbuj and two in Malda. After these frequent incidents, the police administration has become more alert.
Police has seized more than 77 thousand kg of firecrackers till Tuesday by running a campaign in various areas of the state including Bajbuj, Maheshtala, Howrah and Belgharia. In this action police arrested more than 40 people.
Meanwhile, there is anger among a section of local residents over the police action. According to the residents, the police is running a campaign in a particular area. The local people are angry that even those who are not involved in the crackers business are being caught.
Meanwhile, earlier around 37,000 kg of sugar beet was recovered from that area. In total, the police have seized about 77 thousand 500 kg of illegal crackers. It may be noted that the police administration has been stirred up by the blasts one after the other.
Police action against illegal firecrackers in different areas of the state
Police campaign is going on at many places across the state to stop illegal firecrackers. Police has recovered about 100 kg illegal from Malpara village of Patial under Jagatballabhpur police station area of Howrah.
On receiving information from secret sources, the police raided the spot and recovered the firecrackers. According to the local residents, raids should not be conducted at just one place, but other areas should also be raided.
