18 killed, 30 injured in communal violence in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. At least 18 people died in communal violence in the last 24 hours in the restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. While 30 others have been injured.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police said that clashes between Alizai and Bagan tribes in Kurram district bordering Afghanistan followed an attack on a convoy of passenger vehicles on Thursday. In this the militants had killed 47 people. At the same time, firing is going on in Balishel, Khar Kali, Kunj Alizai and Maqbal. People are targeting each other with heavy weapons.

According to the information received, so far 18 people have died and 30 have been injured in the clashes. Independent and media sources reported more than 30 people killed in the clashes. Houses and shops were also damaged in the clash. People from various villages have fled to safe places. Muhammad Hayat Hasan, President of Private Education Network, confirmed that due to the worsening situation, all educational institutions in the district remained closed on Saturday.

Earlier 47 people had died

The official said that more than 50 passenger vehicles were fired upon in Bagan, Manduri and Ochhat on Thursday. Six vehicles were directly hit in the firing, resulting in the death of 47 people, including women and children. He said that these vehicles were going from Parachinar to Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Most of the victims belong to the Shia community.
