Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah will not be part of the Indian team on the Sri Lanka tour starting later this month. According to the news of Indian Express, BCCI wants T20 World Cup winning captain Rohit and the other two senior players to get more rest before the series against Bangladesh in September. Let us tell you that the Bangladesh team will tour India for a series of two Tests and three T20 International matches, which will start from September 19.

The Indian team will play three ODIs and the same number of T20 matches on its Sri Lanka tour, which will be held from 27 July to 7 August. Rohit and Virat have retired from T20 International after the World Cup, while Bumrah has said that he will continue to play in this format for the country. The selection committee can select the team for the Sri Lanka series next week.

A BCCI source told the Indian Express, “The senior players can take some rest before the upcoming cricket season. Rohit, Virat and Bumrah have been rested and they will join the team before the Test series against Bangladesh in September.”

After Bangladesh, the Indian team will play a three-Test match series against New Zealand from October 16. After this, the Indian team will tour South Africa for a series of four T20 International matches, the matches of which will be held from 8 to 15 November. Then the Indian team will go to Australia for a five-Test match series, the first match of which will start on November 22.

It is worth noting that Team India may get a new head coach before the Sri Lanka tour. Which has been announced by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah. After the departure of Rahul Dravid, Gautam Gambhir is leading the race for the head coach. With the victory in the T20 World Cup, the tenure of batting coach Vikram Rathore, bowling coach Paras Mahambre and fielding coach T Dilip has also ended. The board now has to fill these vacant posts as well.
