2. Mindy Kaling

Vera Mindy Chokalingam, an actress, producer, comedian, writer, and director was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Her most well-known roles include “The Mindy Project,” in which she played Kelly Kapoor, and “Inside Out,” in which she voiced the character “Disgust.” 

Mindy has also been featured in movies such as The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Wreck-It Ralph, Ocean’s 8, Despicable Me, and Monsters at Work. While all the projects mentioned above are remarkable, the one that made her stand out is the show, Never Have I Ever. 

This project featured several movie stars from South Asia. In addition, she is the mother of two adorable kids.

3. Suraj Sharma

Suraj auditioned for the role of Pi in “Life of Pi (2012)” only because his younger brother insisted. He was one of the 3000 individuals that took part in the audition. Sharma got the amount in the end because director Ang Lee liked how his eyes moved and how he looked like a boy. 

After starring in Life of Pi, Sharma returned to his studies in philosophy at St. Stephens College Delhi University (2012). He has a major role in the current season of “How I Met Your Father” on CBS.

4. Freida Pinto

Freida was a model for two years in Mumbai and was managed by Elite Model Management India. She got her big break when director Danny Boyle cast her as Latika in Slumdog Millionaire. 

Surprisingly, Freida had no acting training until after her first film. She enrolled in a three-month workshop with renowned theater instructor Barry John. Frieda attended St. Xavier College in Mumbai. 

5. Aziz Ansari

Azizi Ansari is the son of a gastroenterologist named Shoukath and a medical office worker named Fatima. He was born in Columbia, South Carolina. Aziz graduated from New York University with an MBA in 2004. 

His film career began with cameos in films such as “I Love You, Man,” “Funny People,” and “Get Him to the Greek.” He got his first main role in a show titled “30 Minutes or Less.” Aziz Ansari is also a stand-up comedian with Netflix specials to his name.
