SpiceJet pays employees salary dues till August

Domestic airline SpiceJet has paid all pending salaries of its employees after raising fresh capital of Rs 3,000 crore, a source said.

According to the source, apart from the salary of all the employees for July and August, the salary of those employees who were given partial salary for June has also been deposited in their accounts.

A SpiceJet spokesperson confirmed the payment of pending salaries to employees.

“The pending salaries were paid to the employees on Wednesday evening,” the spokesperson said on Thursday, without giving any details.

The aviation company has not paid provident fund for two and a half years, while the TDS (tax deducted at source) deducted every month from the salaries of employees has also not been deposited with the government.

The airline had announced on September 23 that it had raised Rs 3,000 crore through qualified institutional placement (QIP) and an additional Rs 736 crore in the previous funding round, further boosting its financial stability and growth plans.
