Stokes ready to return to limited overs cricket

England all-rounder Ben Stokes has said that he is ready to make a comeback in the limited overs format if he is called upon. Stokes believes that if new coach Brendon McCullum requires his services, he will be ready to play in the white ball format. Stokes played an important role in his team's title win in 2019. In the year 2022, the England team had won the T20 World Cup. This cricketer had said goodbye to ODI cricket in 2022 due to fatigue and continuously busy international schedule but made a comeback in the ODI World Cup held in India last year.

Stokes then scored 304 runs in six matches with one century and two fifties. But the team was able to achieve only 3 wins in 9 matches and at one time there was even a threat of direct qualification for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He has not participated in white-ball cricket since the World Cup 2023. He was also not included in the T20 World Cup in June so that he could recover from the knee problem and regain his full fitness. He started concentrating completely on Test cricket. He is focusing on getting back to full fitness ahead of the Test against Pakistan from October 7 after suffering a hamstring injury during The Hundred. Stokes said that he has not yet discussed with the coach about his comeback.

McCullum is also coaching the teams in Pakistan from January 2025 along with the Champions Trophy, so he would be happy if he gets a call from McCullum. He has been an incredible coach who speaks with complete commitment and now the same message from all three teams is to play aggressive cricket. Stokes is hopeful that he will be fit for the Pakistan series after missing the Test against Sri Lanka. He said that he will be cautious about his bowling after being away from the game due to injury since August.
