Lakshmipathy Balaji is celebrating his 43rd birthday today. He was born on this day in 1981 in Chennai. He used to be a right-arm bowler of India. Who has played 30 ODIs, 8 Tests and 5 T20 matches for India. He has taken 71 wickets in his name in International.

Team India's doors opened as soon as the first Ranji season was played.

Lakshmipathy Balaji entered first class in 2001–02. He debuted for Tamil Nadu. In his very first Ranji Trophy, Balaji took 37 wickets at an impressive average of 20.51. After seeing his brilliant game, he was included in Team India.

Poor performance in debut match

Lakshmipathy Balaji made his ODI debut in 2002 against West Indies. However, for him his debut match was no less than a bad memory. In this match, he gave away 44 runs in 4 overs and did not get a single wicket.

Balaji took 5 wickets in the last two matches against Pakistan. In the fifth ODI of this series, Balaji had hit a tremendous six off the ball of Pakistan's legendary bowler Shoaib Akhtar. Everyone was surprised to see this. However, after this six, Shoaib broke Balaji's bat with his fast ball.

In this ODI series against Pakistan, Pakistani girls had fallen in love with Lakshmipathy Balaji. After seeing his brilliant game, many girls even proposed him for marriage. Girls used to bring posters of 'Will You Marry Me' for Balaji in the stadium.

Balaji had undergone a dental operation in his childhood, due to which his face had become such that it seemed as if he was always roaming around with a smile.
