When Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai got married, veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha made news by returning the invitation card and candy that were provided to him.
On April 20, 2007, the Bollywood power couple got married in a low-key ceremony that was only attended by intimate family members.
Teji Bachchan, the mother of Amitabh Bachchan, was hospitalized at the time and was in poor health, thus the Bachchan family decided on a low-key celebration.
In a Koffee with Karan interview, Abhishek Bachchan revealed that because the wedding was private, the family sent cards and candy to friends who weren’t invited.
Shatrughan Sinha was an exception to the rule, since most people accepted the gesture.
In a different interview, Sinha gave his reasoning for returning the card and candies, asking, “What’s the point of the sweets if I wasn’t invited to the wedding?”
In addition, he mentioned that before getting the box, he had anticipated receiving a personal call from Amitabh Bachchan or a family member, but that had not happened.
Despite this, Abhishek acknowledged that it’s hard to please everyone in these kinds of situations and made it obvious that there were no hard feelings.
