Rupee gained 2 paise in early trade, Sensex-Nifty reached new record level

Mumbai: When the market opened on Friday, it opened with a gain of 2 paise in early trade. While crude oil prices were seen softening in the market, the rupee rose by 2 paise to reach 83.64 per dollar in early trade amid inflow of foreign currency.

In view of this increase, foreign exchange traders said that the weakness in the domestic stock market along with the strong trend of the dollar against its major rivals and increase in demand for the dollar among importers also put pressure on the Indian currency. If we talk about the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 83.64 per dollar. It fell to 83.69 per dollar after early deals.

Rupee closed at 83.66 against dollar

However, it then came down to 83.64 per dollar which shows an increase of two paise from the previous closing price. The rupee had closed at 83.66 against the US dollar on Thursday. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the US dollar's position against six major currencies, stood at 100.39, up 0.15 per cent.

International standard Brent crude was down 0.36 percent at $ 71.34 per barrel. If we look at the stock market data, according to this, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were buying on Thursday and FIIs bought shares worth a net Rs 629.96 crore.

Sensex Nifty at new level

When the market opened on Friday, it appeared to be moving forward with a new momentum. Sensex and Nifty reached new all-time highs on Friday amid a rally in global markets. Foreign capital inflows also supported the markets.

BSE Sensex rose 129.91 points in early trade to reach a record peak of 85,966.03 points. NSE Nifty rose 61.3 points to hit an all-time high of 26,277.35.

profits and losses

Talking about profits, among the 30 Sensex listed companies, Titan, IndusInd Bank, Tata Steel, Infosys, Asian Paints, Tata Consultancy Services, Hindustan Unilever, Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies and NTPC were the most profitable. On the other hand, shares of Power Grid, Larsen & Toubro, Bharti Airtel and Kotak Mahindra Bank remained in loss on Thursday.

Talking about Asian markets, South Korea's Kospi remained in loss, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng, Japan's Nikkei 225 and China's Shanghai Composite were seen in profit. US markets closed on a positive note on Thursday.

International standard Brent crude fell 0.29 percent to $ 71.39 per barrel. According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were buyers on Thursday and bought shares worth a net Rs 629.96 crore. Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) also bought shares worth Rs 2,405.12 crore.
