Some laxatives may be a suitable treatment, but others may cause an increase in blood sugar. Diabetes can cause persistently high blood sugar levels, which can cause nerve damage resulting in constipation. Symptoms of constipation can be uncomfortable.

Having constipation means that your bowel movements are difficult or less frequent than usual. If you have bowel movements less than three times a week, you may be constipated. The normal time between bowel movements varies from person to person. Some people have to defecate three times a day. While other people have to have bowel movements only a few times a week. But going more than 3 days without it is usually too long. After 3 days, your stool becomes harder and more difficult to pass.

What causes constipation?

Lack of water in the body (less than 8 glasses per day)

Ways to deal with constipation
Dr. Rajyalakshmi has given home remedies to get rid of constipation:

  1. Mix 2 tsp ghee in 100 ml lukewarm milk and drink it before sleeping.
  2. Consume 2 teaspoons of castor oil daily on an empty stomach, until constipation is cured.
  3. Mix 1/2 teaspoon fennel in 100 ml lukewarm water twice a day and consume it 1 hour before or after meals.
  4. Mix 1-2 teaspoons (5 to 10 grams) of Isabgol powder in lukewarm water and consume it before sleeping.
  5. Mix 1 teaspoon (5 grams) of Triphala powder in 100 ml lukewarm water and drink it before sleeping.
  6. Consume 2-4 figs after soaking them in a glass of water for 4 hours.
  7. Soak 20 raisins in a glass of water for 12 hours and consume it with water. (Diabetic patients should not consume it)
    Make changes in lifestyle:

Walk for 30-45 minutes every morning.

After waking up, drink 2 glasses (1 liter) of lukewarm water on an empty stomach.

Include seasonal and fibre-rich green vegetables and fruits in your diet.

Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water daily.

Do not drink water while eating, take a sip if needed.

Drink a glass of lukewarm water 30 minutes after every meal.

Walk at least 100 steps immediately after every meal.

After eating, do Vajrasana for 5-10 minutes.

Avoid consuming fried food, sweets and soda drinks.

Drive away stress and anxiety by doing meditation and pranayam.

So, if you notice any such symptoms in yourself, practice these easy home remedies and make changes in your lifestyle. Instead of taking pills, try these home remedies which will be less harmful.
