Bangladeshi Fan Tiger Robi Beaten, Heckled at Green Park During IND vs BAN 2nd Test; Hospitalized by Local Police

The second Test of the ongoing two-match Test series between India and Bangladesh is currently underway at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited Bangladesh to bat first on Friday (September 27), after which they managed to post a total of 107 runs for the loss of three wickets in 35 overs before bad light stopped play in the second session.

On Day 1 of the second Test, a Bangladeshi cricket team fan, Tiger Robi, was rushed to a local hospital after he was allegedly hit on the lower abdomen by some spectators at the Green Park Stadium.

Several videos and pictures of policemen taking him out of the stadium for medal assistance are going viral on the internet.

“They hit me on my back and lower abdomen, and I could not breathe,” Robi was quoted as saying by Sportstar when the security personnel rushed him to a nearby hospital for treatment.

However, the police at the iconic venue denied such allegations.

“One of our officers found him gasping for breath near the C block entrance, and he was struggling to speak. It seems like a case of dehydration, but we will wait for the doctors’ advice,” a police source said.

During the first day’s play of the ongoing second India-Bangladesh Test, Robi was seen waving the Bangladesh flag at Green Park Stadium and chanting slogans from the C-block balcony. But after a while, he allegedly got into a confrontation with some local fans before the security personnel took things under control.

But during lunch, Robi alleged that he was beaten up by a few local spectators, but the local police officials have said that it will verify the official CCTV footage and look into his allegations.
