Supreme Court On Delhi-NCR Pollution: Once again the Supreme Court has expressed concern over the increasing air pollution in Delhi-NCR. The court has said that it has reprimanded the Air Quality Management Commission (AQMC) for failing to control pollution. The court reprimanded the commission and ordered it to file a better affidavit. The next hearing of the case will be on October 3.

Hearing the Delhi-NCR pollution case, a bench of Justices Abhay S Oak and Augustin Masih asked the commission to ensure that the machines given to farmers to destroy stubble are used.

The court expressed surprise that the commission's sub-committee meets only four times a year. The court asked for details of the meetings. The court also said that the Commission has the right to take strict action against polluters under Section 14 of the CAQM Act but the Commission has not taken any action since its formation in 2021.

Senior lawyer Aparajita Singh, amicus curiae appointed by the court in the case, said that farmers have once again started burning stubble in Punjab and Haryana.
