China angry over Indians naming Arunachal Pradesh peak as Dalai Lama, said illegal

A previously unknown peak in the state has been named after the 6th Dalai Lama by a group of Indian mountaineers.

Arunachal Pradesh Peak: China is angry over naming a mountain in Arunachal Pradesh after Dalai Lama. In fact, on Thursday a previously unknown peak in the state was named after the 6th Dalai Lama by a group of Indian mountaineers. At the same time, China is not able to digest this. He called it an illegal operation in 'Chinese territory'.

A team of 15 climbers from Dirang-based National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIAMS) successfully climbed the peak last Saturday. The team named it 'Tsangyang Gyatso Peak' in honor of the Tawang-born sixth Dalai Lama Tsangyang Gyatso (17th-18th century). Tsangyang Gyatso was born in 1682 in Tawang region.

Despite some agreement between China and India on withdrawal of troops along the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh, Beijing has once again reiterated its territorial claim on Arunachal Pradesh.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian on Thursday expressed disappointment over Indian climbers naming the peak after the Sixth Dalai Lama.

Speaking at a media briefing in Beijing, he said the establishment of so-called 'Arunachal Pradesh' by India in Chinese territory is illegal and meaningless.

Let us tell you that the history of acrimony between India and China regarding Arunachal Pradesh is old. China claims this area of India while India considers it as its important part.
