New Delhi: Celebrity couples often become a huge talking point when it comes to Bollywood gossip, especially when they have a significant age gap. While some of these marriages thrive, most of these unions come to an end.
Over the years, Bollywood has witnessed many high-profile marriages between celebrities and their younger partners, several of which ended in a divorce. The stories of these former couples show that even the most glamorous unions can face challenges.

1. Urmila Matondkar and Mohsin Akhtar Mir
After eight years of marriage, Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar (50) has filed for divorce from her husband Mohsin Akhtar Mir (40). Alongside this shocking news, that surprised the film industry and her fans alike, reports even suggest that Urmila filed the paperwork four months ago. Her wedding to the Kashmiri businessman and model in 2016 also caught fans and media off guard, which was a private gathering with only close friends from the industry in attendance.
2. Farhan Akhtar and Adhuna Bhabani
After dating for three years, Bollywood Actor Farhan Akhtar (50) tied the knot with the hairstyling industry giant Adhuna Bhabani (57) in the year 2000. With two beautiful daughters – Akira and Shakya, their marriage came to an end after 17 years. In a joint statement released by the former couple, they said, “This is to announce that we … have mutually and amicably decided to separate.” In 2022 Farhan Akhtar married Shibani Dandekar.
3. Kamal Haasan and Vani Ganapathy
The ever-talented Tamil actor Kamal Haasan (69) married Vani Ganapathy (74), a popular dancer at that time, in the year 1978. By the early 80s, the couple had unofficially split because of Vani’s inability to conceive. During this period Kamal started seeing the actress Sarika (63), and as the news of his affair started making headlines, he decided to divorce Vani. The divorce officially took place in 1988, in the same year he tied the knot with Sarika, but this marriage also ended in the year 2004.
4. Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh
Bollywood’s nawab Saif Ali Khan (54) got married to Amrita Singh (66) in 1991. This abusive relationship between the two ended after 13 years, with two children- Sara and Ibrahim. Saif believes that he got married very early before he could even settle in his career. Later Saif tied the knot with Kareena Kapoor (44) in 2012, which now is among the most iconic Bollywood couples.
5. Raftaar and Komal Vohra
Raftaar (35) and Komal Vohra (41) first met each other in 2011 through a common friend. After dating each other for five years, they decided to get married. Soon after tying the knot in 2016, due to differences, they started living separately, filing for divorce in the year 2020 which culminated in 2022.
