Chennai: There has been a major change in the cabinet of MK Stalin Government of Tamil Nadu on Sunday. His son Udhayanidhi Stalin, who made controversial remarks on 'Sanatan' and was a minister in the state government, took oath as Deputy CM. The surprising name is that of former minister Senthil Balaji, who was lodged in Puzhal Central Jail, who has returned to the cabinet. Apart from these, Dr. Govi ​​Chezhiyan, R Rajendran and SM Nassar have also been included in the Council of Ministers. Everyone was administered the oath of office and secrecy at Raj Bhavan today.

Udhayanidhi Stalin has been promoted as Deputy Chief Minister. Along with this, he has been given the additional charge of Planning and Development Department, Dravidian major party DMK is one of the major political developments. Udhayanidhi is the son of Chief Minister MK Stalin and grandson of eminent Dravidian leader and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister 'Kalaignar' Karunanidhi.

The most surprising name in the cabinet expansion of Tamil Nadu Government is that of Senthil Balaji. Senthil Balaji got bail from the Supreme Court only on 26 September. Senthil was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) a year ago. The Chief Minister has allotted the electricity department to Balaji. He was holding the Excise Department when he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on July 14, 2023. According to DMK sources, Senthil Balaji told the Chief Minister about his lack of interest in the Excise Department. For this reason he has been given the responsibility of the electricity department.

Higher education department allotted to Govi ​​Chezhiyan

Interestingly, Stalin has allotted the Higher Education Department to Govi ​​Chezhiyan. Govi is a Dalit leader and also the Chief Whip of DMK. He will replace high profile minister K Ponmudi, who has been given the relatively unimportant forest department.

North Salem MLA R Rajendran also included in the cabinet

North Salem MLA R Rajendran has also been included in the cabinet. He is the only DMK MLA in Salem district. There are a total of 11 MLAs in the district and the remaining seats have been won by AIADMK and PMK. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin had already publicly expressed his intention. Rajendran will be given the tourism portfolio, which was earlier held by K Ramachandran who was dropped from the cabinet. DMK's powerful Muslim leader SM Nassar will replace Gingee K Masthan, another Muslim leader who has been shown the door. Nassar will be given the minority portfolio, which was held by Masthan.
