Kulasekharapatnam: India used to launch domestic satellites and foreign satellites from Sriharikota launch pad in Andhra. Currently, work is underway to establish India's second rocket launch pad at Kulasekarapatnam in Thoothukudi district of Tamil Nadu. A small rocket named Rohini 6H200 was successfully launched during the foundation stone laying ceremony of this project. The Kulasekharapattina launch pad is expected to be ready in two years.

Launch Vehicles > PSLV: Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle is one of India's two operational launch vehicles. This is an indigenously developed launcher. Spacecraft are used to move into space. It can carry medium payloads that can reach various orbits.

ASLV: Augmented or Advanced Satellite Launch Vehicle is another small launch vehicle launched in the 1980s to develop the technology required to place satellites into geostationary orbit.

GSLV: Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle is a space launch vehicle designed, manufactured and operated by the Indian Space Research Organization to launch satellites and other space objects into geosynchronous transfer orbit. The GSLV is capable of carrying heavier payloads into orbit than the PSLV.

SSLV: Indian Space Research Organization has developed a small satellite launch vehicle. So far the small satellite and the big satellite are PSLV. were launched by

This created an environment where small satellites were waiting to be launched. SSLV is used to launch satellites weighing up to 500 kg into low Earth orbit depending on demand.
