It is not just regular residents, even the biggest Bollywood celebs with net worth in the crores, also stay in rented flats in Mumbai. Why is that? The first reason is, well, obvious. Every citizen of the country knows the state of the housing market in Mumbai. The skyscrapers also have sky-rocketing prices that only seem to be getting higher.
In addition to this, there might be two more reasons for this phenomenon. Despite having astounding net worths, quite a huge chunk of Bollywood celebs live in rented spaces. The second biggest contributing factor might be their uncertain income flow. An actor might get big bucks one year while failing to get any offers the next. So, cashing out crores of rupees seems financially irresponsible.
Another reason might simply be the non-availability of a home in their preferred area. Actors live in posh areas like Bandra, Andheri West and Versova, in addition to the high prices, most of these lavish sea-facing apartments might not be up for sale. B-town celebs such as Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif, Madhuri Dixit, and Kriti Sanon live in rented apartments in Mumbai. Here are the jaw-dropping prices for their lavish homes.
After getting married in December 2021, Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif moved into a rented space in Juhu. With a huge deposit of Rs 1.75 crore, the couple reportedly pays Rs 8 lakh per month as rent.
In addition to them, Kriti Sanon lives in a spacious rented duplex property in Juhu. Fun fact, her landlord is none other than Amitabh Bachchan. Kriti reportedly pays Rs 10 lakh per month and paid off a Rs 60 lakh deposit. Similarly, Kartik Aaryan has currently rented out a property owned by Shahid Kapoor. As per a report by Hindustan TimesKartik pays Shahid Rs 7.5 lakh per month for his rented flat in Juhu’s Tara Road.
So, it seems like even if celebs end up buying a property, some prefer to rent it out to tenants to have a continuous flow of income. However, multiple Bollywood celebs who have established themselves in the industry, have managed to buy expensive properties in a city like Mumbai. The first ones that come to mind are Shah Rukh Khan’s Mannat, Salman Khan’s Galaxy Apartments, and Sonam Kapoor’s huge bungalow in Bandra among many others.
