Along with him, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Ayush Saxena and Jaskunwar Kohli also received the award.

After receiving the award, Vikas Divyakirti said, “The film was made. Vidhu sir polished that film. And one thing I learned in this process is that it takes thousands of lives to tell a story. It was Manoj’s life, there were thousands of people, we wrote the film by observing them all. Two-two hundred and fifty people shot, edited, gave music, only then a good story was made.”

Vikas Divyakirti further said, “So we all always follow one thing that while making a film, while working, always remember one line that ‘You are just a character, recognize your limits, otherwise one day you will be removed from the story’ . This line of Wasim Barelvi Saheb is the philosophy of all of us.” He further says, “Thank you IIFA, thank you Shahrukh.” After that he hugs Shahrukh Khan. Shahrukh also congratulated him for getting the award.
