Punjab Police busted arms smuggling module, arrested 6 people
Punjab News: Punjab Police on Friday busted a major arms smuggling module. Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav gave information about this. He said that Amritsar Commissionerate Police has arrested six people. He said that a cross-border arms smuggling module supported by foreign smugglers has been busted. DGP Gaurav Yadav further said that 10 pistols and 10 cartridges including three state-of-the-art 9mm Glock pistols have been recovered from the possession of the accused persons.
The arrested people were identified
Those arrested were identified as Vinod Kumar alias Rangeela of Putlighar, Yuvraj Singh and Surkhaap Singh of village Roriwala, Amritsar, Jugraj Singh alias Jaggu of Plah Sahib Road, Amritsar, Amritpal Singh of village Sherpur in Batala and village Mumrai. He has been cast as Prabhdeep Singh alias Harman. DGP Yadav said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused were in contact with smugglers sitting abroad, who are delivering large consignments of weapons to Indian territory through drones and other means.

Police action after intelligence information
DGP said that further investigation is being done in this case to establish backward and forward links. Commissioner of Police (CP) Amritsar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that information was received from reliable sources about the involvement of accused Amritpal in arms smuggling. After which the police teams of CIA Amritsar laid a trap and he was arrested along with Prabhdeep from Batala Road, Amritsar. On their information, the police have recovered two 9mm Glock pistols and five .32 bore pistols along with six cartridges from near Verka bye pass.

In another operation based on intelligence about illegal arms smuggling, Commissioner Bhullar said police teams nabbed accused Jugraj Singh along with his three associates from behind Khalsa College. One Glock pistol and two .32 bore pistols have been recovered from them. Four cartridges were hidden at a different place behind Guru Nanak Dev University in Amritsar.
