Government is going to give a big gift to government employees, salary will increase by up to 186%

New Delhi: It has been 8 years since the 7th Pay Commission was implemented. Since then, inflation has doubled by two to three times, hence government employees have been demanding for a long time to implement the 8th Pay Commission. This wait of government employees may end soon. Let us tell you that at present government employees get the 7th pay scale, in which the basic salary of the employees is Rs 18 thousand. Earlier there was 6th pay scale and in this the basic salary of the employees was Rs 7 thousand. In such a situation, you can understand that whenever the 8th pay scale is implemented, there will be a significant increase in the salary of the employees.

If everything goes well then the central government can announce the 8th pay scale in this budget. After which the basic salary of government employees will increase by 186 percent. Along with this, there will be a significant increase in the pension of those who are pensioners.

Salary may increase up to 186 percent

Shiv Gopal Mishra, secretary of the National Council of Joint Consultative Machinery (JCM), has said that he expects a fitment factor of at least 2.86. This is 29 basis points (bps) higher than the fitment factor of 2.57 under the 7th Pay Commission. According to the Financial Express report, if the government approves the fitment factor of 2.86, the minimum salary of government employees will increase by 186 percent to Rs 51,480, compared to the current salary of Rs 18,000.

Any further increase in the fitment factor will result in a proportionate increase in the salary. Increase in fitment factor increases both pension and salary of employees. Under the 8th Pay Commission, pension is also expected to increase by 186 percent, which will increase from the current pension of Rs 9,000 to Rs 25,740. This calculation will be correct only if the currently required fitment factor of 2.86 is applied.

When will the 8th Pay Commission be formed?

No official date for the formation of the new Pay Commission has been announced, but media reports suggest that it may be announced in the next budget 2025-26. However, these demands were also made in the previous Budget 2024-25 and the employee unions had approached the Cabinet Secretary and the Finance Ministry with their demands.
