Charanjit Singh, Additional Secretary, Government of India, appreciated the work of Bihan Group in Chhattisgarh, discussed the new project with the Principal Secretary.

Raipur. Charanjit Singh, Additional Secretary, National Rural Livelihood Mission, under the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, today visited Nari and Charra villages of Dhamtari district and met the women of Bihan group and observed the activities conducted by them. Additional Secretary Singh appreciated the efforts being made through Bihan to make women economically strong and self-reliant. He said that by joining Bihaan Group, women have developed a sense of awareness and economic self-reliance.

Additional Secretary Singh reached Raipur today on a two-day visit to Chhattisgarh. He met Niharika Barik Singh, Principal Secretary, Rural Development Department, and discussed the possibilities of new projects for Chhattisgarh. After this, Additional Secretary Singh reached Nari and Charra villages of Kurud development block of Dhamtari district and observed the work done by the women of Bihan group there. Here, the work being done by the women of agriculture based products, animal husbandry and Green Army was appreciated.

Singh inquired about the self-reliance works of the special backward tribe Kamar families. He also asked the women about their income and expenditure from livelihood activities under Bihan. On this occasion, Singh visited the product stalls of the women's group in village Charra. He inquired about the problems faced by Bank Sakhi in her work. On this occasion, Mission Director NRLM Jayshree Jain, Joint Mission Director RK Jha, Virendra Jaiswal, Alice Lakra, Collector Dhamtari Namrata Gandhi, CEO District Panchayat Roma Srivastava and other state officials were present.
