Side effects of eating sprouts:Most people like to eat raw sprouts rich in nutrients to keep the body healthy. But do you know that consumption of sprouts in winter can have adverse effects on the body. Sprouts include soaked gram, peanuts, whole moong dal and many other things, which are then sprouted and eaten.

Many times, harmful bacteria start growing in sprouted grains. Usually, if eaten raw, these harmful bacteria reach the stomach. In fact, in a warm, humid environment, harmful bacteria like E. coli and Salmonella start growing in it.
There is no heat and moisture in winter, hence the grains have to be kept for several days to germinate. Due to which moisture and warmth comes in it and bacteria start growing.
Even in Ayurveda, eating raw sprouts during winter season is considered harmful. The fire in the stomach slows down in winter. Because of which it takes time to digest raw sprouts. Due to which problems like gas, acidity, bloating and diarrhea start occurring.
Everything has its nature in Ayurveda. Raw sprouts are considered to be of cold nature. When it is eaten raw, phlegm starts increasing in the body. Due to which cold may occur.

Sprouts have high fiber content. Due to lack of proper digestion in winter, sprouts remain undigested in the intestines and get fermented and produce gas. Therefore, if you want to eat sprouts in winter, then eat them lightly cooked.
