Fact check has found this message to be fake. PIB wrote, 'A message is being circulated on social media that as India is celebrating the 75th anniversary of its independence, senior citizens above 75 years of age will no longer have to pay tax. This message is fake.

PIB has informed that senior citizens above 75 years of age, whose income is only from pension and interest, are exempted from filing ITR. Also, if any tax is applicable, it is deducted by the designated bank after calculating the income and making eligible deductions.
