“Rishabh Pant wants to captain India National Cricket Team”: Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal
Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal has revealed that Rishabh Pant wants to captain India. Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Jindal said that he knows what the left-handed batter is looking to achieve in his life.
Rishabh Pant was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for INR 27 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. He is expected to lead the franchise in the 18th season.
“We knew about his ambitions and where he wants to go in his life. He made it clear to us that his dream is to captain India and that starts with leading an IPL team,” Parth Jindal recalled a chat between Pant and the DC team owners.
Jindal also discussed the next franchise captain, saying that both Axar Patel and KL Rahul are good candidates.
“Axar has been with the team for a long time. He has been good for the franchise and is the best all-rounder in T20 cricket. He has been phenomenal for us and has done a great job as a vice-captain. Whenever Rishabh was not available due to any concern, he led the team fron the front. He is one the guys who can do a geat job for Delhi in IPL 2025. We have to take a decision regarding captaincy and I haven’t spoken to anybody about it,” he added.
Earlier, he revealed that it was Rishabh Pant’s decision to leave Delhi Capitals as he didn’t like the feedback given to him by the franchise owners. The decision-makers wanted to retain him, but the player decided to go in a different direction. Jindal also promised to provide love and respect to KL Rahul, who left the LSG after a breakdown of a relationship with the owner of Lucknow Super Giants owner, Sanjiv Goenka.
