Amitabh Bachchan was removed from 1997 third highest-grossing movie featuring Ajay Devgn-Aamir Khan, Big B scenes were completed by…

Amitabh Bachchan was replaced by an actor who appeared like him and mimicked him in a song from this popular film. Check details.

27 years ago, a movie directed by Indra Kumar, emerged as a major commercial success at the box-office, grossing over Rs 500 million (US$6.0 million) worldwide, ranking as the third highest-grossing Hindi film of the year. The film received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics upon release, with praise for its humour, soundtrack, costumes and performances of the cast, but criticism for its story and screenplay. The movie featured stars Ajay Devgn and Aamir Khan, it was their first film together for which they were applauded for their chemistry. They were paired with top actresses Kajol and Juhi Chawla. We are talking about Ishq. However, do you know that even Amitabh Bachchan was a part of the film?

Director Indra Kumar was also making another film with Amitabh Bachchan under his production house ABCL. However, the film did not see the light of day due to major financial issues between the superstar and the filmmaker. As soon as that film was shelved, Kumar reconsidered Amitabh Bachchan’s supporting role in Ishq. He was supposed to play a character who resolves the issues and brings the couples together. In fact, even a song was recorded for Amitabh.

In those days, Sudesh Bhosle was the first choice to croon Big B’s songs, and he recorded Mr. Promise Promise in his voice. However, Indra Kumar eventually dropped Amitabh Bachchan from Ishq after the fallout. The question then arose: what should he do with the song?

Later, the song was shot with Johnny Lever, who appeared as different Amitabh Bachchan characters, mimicking him, and it became one of the chartbusters of that year!

The film went on to become the third highest-grossing film of 1997 at the box office, after Border and Dil To Pagal Hai.
