RCB boosted the price of this Indian wicketkeeper by 5400% check out the name inside
That was the whole essence of the IPL auction-the hope against hope pouring into every player’s heart from the very humble and mediocre background that maybe one day he will become a millionaire as billionaires pour in their money looking for a match in their contracts with their teams. It was like that at the IPL 2025 auction, which set a new record for the greatest amount of money spent by any auction at an astonishing INR 639.15 crore. Some players received enormous subsequent increments, one being wicket-keeper batter Jitesh Sharma, being raised to an unbelievable salary rise of 5,400%.
Jitesh, who was purchased at the IPL 2022 mega auction by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for Rs 20 lakh, fetched a whopping value of Rs 11 crore at auction for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). This means that Jitesh gets 5,400 percent more than his salary last year in IPL, the highest jumps in IPL auction history.
For an increase from Rs 7 crore to Rs 11 crore, for Jitesh, the price tag started at RCB, went up to Rs 11 crore after PBKS opted for an RTM option.
Therefore, while Jitesh grabbed the highest increment in the auction process, overall the biggest salary raise in IPL went to another wicket-keeper batter, Dhruv Jurel, retained by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 14 crore-6900 percent higher than his last salary of Rs 20 lakh.
The IPL 2025 mega auction-the auction that shattered several records included one in which the purchase price record shifted from Mitchell Starc to Shreyas Iyer (Rs 26.75 cr) and then again moved from Iyer to Rishabh Pant (Rs 27 cr) in about half an hour.
Well, Jitesh will be part of an electrifyingly packed and fabulous RCB batting order. Ahead of him, RCB is expected to open with the duo of Virat Kohli and new recruit Phil Salt with Rajat Patidar and Liam Livingstone also beefing it up.
