Cheteshwar Pujara picks Team India’s bowlers for the pink-ball Test against Australia
India will take on Australia in the second Test on December 6 in Adelaide. The pink-ball game could see the dominance of the bowlers under lights. Legendary batter Cheteshwar Pujara, who donned the hat of a commentator in the first game of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, feels India should continue with the same bowling attack and backed Nitish Kumar Reddy and Harshit Rana after their impressive debuts in the series opener in Perth.
The visitors won the contest by 295 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the five-Test Boder-Gavaskar Trophy. Washington Sundar was preferred over Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.
“There is no need for any change. The bowlers did an excellent job in the first Test. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj were clinical while Harshit Rana also supported the two. He bowled well and you have to accept that. He was playing his first game and still ended up pitching the ball up,” Cheteshwar Pujara said on ESPNcricinfo.
“The bowlers get carried away in Australia after seeing the pace and bounce of the pitch. But Rana hit the right spot and bowled a good line and lenth. We should carry on with the same bowling attack. Nitish also bowled a bit in Perth,” he added.
Reddy scored 41 and 38* and also picked up a wicket. Harshit took 4 wickets in the contest.
Pujara backed all-rounder Washinton Sundar for the upcoming match. India will play a two-day pink-ball warm-up match against a Prime Minister’s XI from November 30.
