U-19 Asia Cup winners list, runner-ups and defending champion

New Delhi: The Under-19 Asia Cup is the premier Asian tournament for young cricketing talents and the U19 Asia Cup tournament gives a platform to young sensations to showcase their talent on a big stage. The first time U19 Asia Cup was introduced in 1989, at that time the U19 Asia Cup was known as the Youth Asia Cup.

India have been dominating the U19 Asia Cup as they won the title eight times and other nations like Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan won the title only once. In 2012, the arch-rivals India and Pakistan shared the trophy as the match ended in a tie.

The U19 Asia Cup 2024 just began on November 29, Friday. There are two groups in the league stage, each group consists of four teams. India are placed in group A alongside Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, and Japan. The group B consists of Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh.

Bangladesh are the defending champions of the U19 Asia Cup. Bangla Tigers defeated India in the semi-final and beat UAE in the final of the U19 Asia Cup. It was the maiden title for the Bangladesh youth team. The previous edition was marked as one of the best because both heavyweights India and Pakistan were beaten in their semi-final match.

UAE are again hosting the U19 Asia Cup and it is their third consecutive time for hosting the event. It is also a weird thing that the team with most number of title doesn’t host the tournament once in the history.

The defending champion won the first match of U19 Asia Cup 2024 as Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan by 45 runs in Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai on November 29, Friday.
