We have to learn to convert the environment into results, preparations for elections in the states should be started at least a year in advance: Kharge
New Delhi. Jharkhand Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting was held on Friday after the results of Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections. During this meeting, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said, after the 2024 Lok Sabha election results, the Congress Party had made a comeback with new enthusiasm. But after that, the election results of 3 states were not as per our expectations. INDIA parties formed government in 2 out of 4 states. But our performance was below-expectation. This is a challenge for us in terms of future.

We need to immediately learn from the election results and correct all our weaknesses and shortcomings at the organizational level. These results are a message for us. The most important thing that I say again and again is that lack of mutual unity and statements against each other cause a lot of harm to us. Unless we fight elections unitedly and stop making statements against each other, how will we be able to give political defeat to our opponents?
He further said, therefore it is important that we follow strict discipline. Have to remain united in every situation. The party also has the weapon of discipline. But we do not want to put our colleagues in any bondage. Therefore, everyone needs to think that in the victory of the Congress Party, we all win and in its defeat, we all lose. Our strength lies with the strength of the party. The atmosphere in the elections was in our favor. But mere favorable environment does not guarantee victory. We have to learn to convert the environment into results. What is the reason why we are not able to take advantage of the environment?
That is why we have to work hard and formulate a strategy in a timely manner. We have to strengthen our organization up to the booth level. We have to be alert, alert and cautious day and night, from making the voter list to counting the votes. Our preparations from the beginning till the counting of votes should be such that our workers and systems work promptly. In many states our organization is not up to expectations. Our biggest need is to strengthen the organization. We may have lost the elections, but there is no doubt that unemployment, inflation, economic inequality are the burning issues of this country. Caste census is also an important issue today. Issues like Constitution, social justice and harmony are people's issues.
The Congress President further said, but this does not mean that we should forget the important local issues in the election states. It is also important to understand the different issues of the states in detail and make a concrete campaign strategy around them. For how long will you contest state elections on the basis of national issues and national leaders? Recent election results also indicate that we should start our election preparations in the states at least a year in advance. Our teams should be present in the field before time. The first task should be to check the voter lists so that the votes of our party's people remain in the list at all costs. The next thing I want to say is that we cannot achieve success all the time by following the old patterns.

You have to see what your political opponent is doing on a daily basis. We have to take decisions on time. Accountability has to be fixed. I want to say one more thing. Many times we become our own worst enemy. We ourselves will talk negative and depressing things about ourselves and say that – we do not have any narrative, so I ask whose responsibility is it to create the narrative and convey it to the public? This is the collective responsibility of all of us. The narrative we set at the national level is still applicable.
He further said, I believe that EVM has made the electoral process suspicious. Election Commission is a constitutional institution, hence the less said about it, the better. But it is the constitutional responsibility of the Election Commission to ensure free and fair elections in the country. Questions are being raised again and again as to what extent this responsibility is being fulfilled. After the kind of results that came in favor of MVA in the Lok Sabha just 6 months ago, the result in the Legislative Assembly is beyond the understanding of even the political pundits. Such results have emerged that no amount of arithmetic is unable to justify it.
