Question on organizational reforms in the meeting of Congress Working Committee, Rahul said, 'Kharge ji use the whip'

New Delhi. After the setbacks faced by the Congress in the recent assembly elections, the party called a meeting of the Congress Working Committee to seriously discuss the organizational reforms and electoral process. In the meeting, the party raised questions about the impartiality of EVMs and the Election Commission and announced to launch a nationwide movement on these issues.

Emphasis on organizational improvement

In the meeting, party president Mallikarjun Kharge talked about taking strict steps to improve the organization. He said that factionalism and indiscipline were affecting the performance of the party. Kharge made it clear that if needed, he would not shy away from “wielding the whip” to bring about organizational change. On this, Rahul Gandhi supported him and said, “Kharge ji, use the whip!”

Rahul Gandhi's appeal

Rahul Gandhi appealed to the party leaders in the meeting to maintain morale. He said that this is not the time to accept defeat. He termed EVMs as well as the entire electoral system under suspicion and questioned the role of the Election Commission. Rahul said that the Election Commission is not working impartially, and the party will have to be vocal against it.

Priyanka Gandhi asked to clarify the situation on EVM

At the meeting, Priyanka Gandhi stressed the need to clarify the party's stand on EVMs versus ballots. He said that Congress should give a strong and clear message on this issue. However, the party has not taken any clear decision on this issue at present.

Discussion on poor performance in Maharashtra

During the meeting, the party's poor performance in the Maharashtra Assembly elections was also discussed. The defeat in the elections has raised questions on the organizational structure and strategy of the party. At the end of the meeting, Congress announced to launch a massive nationwide movement on the questions being raised on EVMs and the electoral process. The party believes that it is very important to make the public aware on these issues.

Kharge Ka Sandesh, Discipline is the strength of organization
