After Himachal, now here also prisoners are having fun, now there will be bumper earnings every month.
Haryana News: In Haryana too, on the lines of Himachal, salaries will be given to jail inmates. Now the state government has approved the policy of giving 40 percent share to the prisoners in the profits from the sale of products manufactured in jails. However, the same policy is applicable in Punjab also, while the Chandigarh administration is waiting for the green signal from the Central Government.
Eyes fixed on the central government
The Haryana Government informed the Punjab and Haryana High Court that a special policy has been implemented for the prisoners. Under this, 40 percent of the profit from the sale of products will be given to the prisoners. At the same time, Punjab government informed that this dividend is being deposited in the accounts of prisoners. Chandigarh administration said that preparations for the scheme have been completed, but now the eyes are on the approval of the Central Government to implement it.
Instructions for approval in three months
On this, during the hearing of the case, the High Court said that most of the states have adopted this policy, hence it would not be right to keep this matter pending. The court directed the Central Government to approve the plan of Chandigarh Administration within three months. With this, the petition was disposed of and an order was also given to list the related criminal appeal before the appropriate bench.
The High Court, while hearing a petition, found that the prisoners were being deprived of the economic benefits from the sale of products manufactured in the jail. As a result, it was seen that the prisoners working in the prison were also becoming victims of mental pressure and anger. This policy will not only make the prisoners self-reliant but will also help in their mental and social rehabilitation. This decision of the High Court is being considered an important step towards the rights of prisoners.
Got inspiration from Himachal
Let us tell you that in 2021, Himachal Pradesh implemented a scheme under the Jail Department, under which prisoners were given 40 percent share of the profit from the sale of products. The High Court said that if the government is earning profit from the products made by prisoners, then the prisoners should also get a share in it.
