Man City Signs Under 16 Midfielder Teddie Lamb

Lamb is a highly-rated prospect in the youth ranks of Leyton Orient, a club in EFL League One, or the third division of the English football pyramid. Earlier today, it was reported by Fabrizio Romano that the Sky Blues are closing in on the youngster, but the deal has now been made.

A midfield player, Teddie Lamb will come nowhere close to the first team at his age, but he is signed as a long-term prospect in one of the best youth academy systems in the world.

The likes of Phil Foden, Jadon Sancho, Kieran Trippier, and Kasper Schmeichel are products of the Man City academy. Seeing this, Lamb is certainly in good hands.

However, the youngster might be pushed up in the timeline, seeing how several of the club’s players are injured. The likes of Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji are out with injuries. But there has been no bigger loss to the club than Rodri. The Ballon d’Or winner tore his ACL in September and will be out until March.

In the absence of these players, and especially Rodri, Manchester City has been in the worst form they have been since getting bought out in 2008 by Sheikh Mansour.

Since October 31, City has lost to Tottenham in the EFL Cup, to Bournemouth, Brighton, Tottenham, Liverpool, and Manchester United in the PL, to Sporting and Juventus in the UEFA Champions League, and has drawn with Crystal Palace and Feyenoord.

In their last 11 matches, they have lost eight, drawn two, and won only one match, a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest. At this time, their defence has been in shambles, conceding 28 goals in these 11 matches, with no match seeing them concede less than two goals.

While the signing of the young Lamb will do nothing for Manchester City in the immediate future, he certainly is a prospect for the future.
