Deepika Kumari, Dhiraj clinch individual titles
Indian ace archers Deepika Kumari and Dhiraj Boomadevara clinched the individual titles at the Senior Archery National Championships held in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, on Friday.
Deepika defeated (6-2) her fellow Paris Olympics teammate Ankita Bhakat in the final to claim the women’s recurve title, while Dhiraj Boomadevara triumphed (6-2) over Divyansh to secure the men’s recurve title.
Ankita challenged Deepika with a perfect score of 30 in the second set but was unable to maintain the momentum and settled for the silver medal after losing the next two sets.
In the women’s recurve category, Simranjeet Singh secured the bronze medal with a (6-5) shoot-off victory against Bhargaviben Bhagora in the bronze medal match.
Meanwhile, the men’s recurve bronze medal was claimed by Atul Verma, who comfortably defeated Achanba Singh (7-1) in the bronze medal match.
Deepika-Atanu wins the Mixed team title
Deepika Kumari added another gold to her collection as she partnered with Atanu Das to clinch the mixed recurve team gold medal, defeating Simranjeet Kaur and Aditya Chaudhary of Punjab.
Meanwhile, the men’s team gold medal was claimed by the Railways team, who defeated Haryana in the final, while host Jharkhand triumphed over Madhya Pradesh to win the women’s recurve team title.
