Pollution control in Delhi-NCR: DMRC starts special anti-pollution drive at construction sites

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has intensified its efforts to control the rising pollution levels in Delhi-NCR. A special anti-pollution drive is being run by DMRC at various construction sites and their associated routes in the capital. Under this campaign, dust control, cleanliness of construction sites and ensuring adherence to environmental standards have been kept on priority. This initiative is not only an important step towards reducing pollution generated during construction activities, but will also contribute to keeping the city roads clean and safe.

Strict action on construction sites

According to DMRC Principal Executive Director Anuj Dayal, the corporation is running special anti-pollution drives at several construction sites in the capital. Under this campaign, special attention is being given to dust control, regular cleaning of roadside garbage and maintaining cleanliness in construction areas. He said that additional measures are also being adopted to reduce the dust generated during construction activities, so that the impact of pollution in the surrounding areas is minimal.

Special cleaning and repair campaign conducted here

As part of DMRC’s anti-pollution campaign, a special drive was conducted from Azadpur to Ashok Vihar on Friday (December 5). During this period, many measures like repair of damaged footpaths, improvement work of middle road portion and road beautification were implemented. DMRC engineers inspected the entire area. The inspection found that all construction materials were properly covered and the wheel-wash system for vehicles moving out of construction sites was also functioning properly.

Many environmental measures are underway at construction sites

Keeping in mind the increasing pollution levels in the national capital, DMRC is continuously running special anti-pollution drives in many areas. This drive is in addition to the regular measures the organization is already implementing, such as dust control, covering construction materials and ensuring cleanliness of roads.

19 km of roads under DMRC jurisdiction

At present, about 19 kilometers of city roads are temporarily under the jurisdiction of DMRC. These roads were handed over to the organization due to metro construction works. DMRC has already completed the repair work of these roads, so that the pollution caused by metro construction does not increase.

More than 100 ‘anti-smog guns’ deployed for dust control

More than a hundred anti-smog guns have been installed at construction sites, metro stations and office complexes for dust control. The Environment Department of DMRC conducts daily inspections to ensure that all environmental standards are properly followed.

DMRC strict after Chief Minister’s instructions

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had recently instructed all agencies to strictly follow environment-related rules. In this context, DMRC has also clarified that it is fully committed to ensuring complete compliance with these guidelines.
