Orgy of death at midnight in Goa’s restaurant-club, 23 bodies recovered; PM Modi announced compensation-CM ordered investigation

Goa restaurant fire cylinder blast: Goa The massive fire incident that took place in Arpora late Sunday night shocked the entire country. So far, 23 people have been confirmed dead in this tragic accident, which includes 20 men and 3 women. Some of the dead were tourists, while most were locals working in the basement of the restaurant. The accident happened in a restaurant-cum-club, where there was chaos after a sudden fire.

Along with this, Prime Minister Modi has announced to give an ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF). At the same time, financial assistance of Rs 50-50 thousand will be given to the people injured in this accident.

There was chaos after the blast

According to local people, a loud bang was heard before the accident. An eyewitness resident said, “When I was returning home, I heard a loud bang. After some time, we saw an ambulance going towards the spot. When we reached there, the incident had already happened.”

At the same time, a security guard working in a nearby restaurant said, “We heard a very loud explosion. Later it was found out that the fire had started after the cylinder blast.”

Most deaths due to suffocation: Michael Lobo

Describing this incident as extremely unfortunate, BJP MLA Michael Lobo has demanded a safety audit of all the clubs and restaurants of Goa. He said, “This incident is extremely disturbing. 23 people have lost their lives. Some were tourists, but mostly locals who were working in the basement. Most of the people died of suffocation as they ran towards the basement. Goa is always considered a safe tourist destination, but such incidents damage our image.”

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant ordered investigation

Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant described this accident as a very painful day for the state and has ordered a judicial inquiry. During a visit to the site, he said, “This is an extremely unfortunate incident, especially for a tourist state… Strict action will be taken against those who are running such establishments illegally. The investigation will find out the exact cause of the fire and the culprits will be given the strictest punishment under the law.”

DGP told the entire incident

Goa DGP Alok Kumar said that the police received information about the incident at 12:04 am. He said, “As soon as information was received about the fire in a restaurant-cum-club in Arpora, police, fire brigade and ambulance reached the spot. Now the fire has been brought under control. All the bodies have been taken out. The total number of dead is 23. The police will thoroughly investigate the entire matter.”

Treatment of injured continues, assistance to affected families

The people injured in the accident have been admitted to nearby hospitals, where their treatment is ongoing. The administration has assured all possible help to the families of the deceased. At the same time, forensic investigation into the cause of the fire has also been started.
