French President Macron will meet Zelensky, Starmer and Merz in London on December 8

Paris. French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that he will travel to London on December 8, where he will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the situation in Ukraine, ongoing US-mediated negotiations and issues related to security guarantees.

Macron said on the social media platform X that Ukraine could count on France for “unwavering support.” He said that this cooperation is part of the efforts of the “Coalition of the Willing”, under which work is being done with the US towards providing long-term security guarantees to Ukraine. According to him, peace in Ukraine is possible only if a strong and reliable security system is ensured for it, because this is an issue related to the security of the whole of Europe.

Macron strongly condemned Russia’s recent attacks on Ukraine’s energy and rail infrastructure. He said that Russia is “on the path to escalating tensions” and is not trying for peace, so it is necessary to maintain international pressure.

On the other hand, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the power system in many areas of Ukraine has been affected due to Russia’s military activities. Even the Zaporizhia Nuclear Plant had to be cut off from external power supply for some time at night.
