The captain’s innings, his second fifty this season, reflects his consistent domestic form amid questions being raised about his role in India’s T20 setup. With competition for the wicketkeeping spot, Samson’s future in the playing XI remains uncertain.

Samson, who had an average performance in the Asia Cup but was still India’s third-highest run-scorer with 132 runs – behind Abhishek Sharma (314) and Tilak Verma (213) – was shifted from his preferred opening slot to make way for Shubman Gill at the top.
Are there T20Is against South Africa?
Despite scoring three T20I centuries as an opener, Samson was dropped to the middle and lower order during the Asia Cup and was later dropped after just one innings in the Australia T20I series. Now, despite being a part of the Indian team for the upcoming T20Is against South Africa, his place in the playing XI is not confirmed. Jitesh Sharma is also in the team as a lower-order wicketkeeping option, so the question remains: will Samson finally be able to score runs consistently, or will he once again have to watch from the sidelines?
