From the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund, compensation of Rs 2 lakh each will be given to those killed in the Goa fire and Rs 50 thousand will be given to the injured.

New Delhi. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has ordered a magistrate inquiry after 25 people died in a massive fire in a night club in Arpora, North Goa. The Chief Minister of Goa said that the manager of the club and other people have already been arrested in this case and an arrest warrant has been issued against the owners of the club.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that this is a bad day. This is the first time in the tourism history of Goa that such a major fire incident has occurred. 25 people died. I reached the spot at 2 o’clock in the night. Local MLA Michael Lobo was with me. All the officers were also present there. The fire was extinguished within half an hour, but the club where the accident occurred. Some people ran out from there, but some could not get out. The Chief Minister said that some people died due to suffocation. According to initial information, four people were tourists and the rest were employees of the club. I express my condolences on his death and sympathize with his families. May the souls of those who died rest in peace. They will be given compensation from the government. The six people who are in the hospital are being given the best medical treatment at the Goa Medical College. I have spoken to the dean of the college. We have ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident. What permission was taken by the club and who gave it will be investigated. The CM said that it has to be seen whether fire safety norms and building construction norms were followed or not. Arrest warrant has been issued against the club owners. The manager and other people have already been arrested. Whoever is found guilty will be put in jail. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called me on Sunday morning and asked for all the details. He also asked for details about the injured. CM said that Rs 2 lakh each will be given to the families of the deceased and Rs 50 thousand will be given to the injured from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.
