YouTube introduced new recap feature, know how it works

Year long video journey in one click

YouTube has launched a new recap feature of 2025 for its users. This feature turns a year’s worth of watch history into an engaging and personalized highlight reel. Through this, users will be able to know on which videos, creators and genres they spent the most time.

The platform is presenting it as a fun and data-driven year-end experience that can be viewed on both mobile and desktop. The company believes that this feature will help users connect more deeply with the content.

Customized recap experience

YouTube said that the Recap feature presents each user’s watch history through 2025 in a customized form. Through this, users will be able to see what type of videos they watched the most and which creators’ content they liked the most. This feature not only summarizes the year’s preferences, but also shows the genres that the user consistently explored. This way it becomes a personal digital journal.

How does the recap work?

The new Recap feature transforms statistics into an engaging visual experience, combining entertainment. It converts your data into a highlight reel that users can easily view, save, and share. It consists of 12 story-style cards, including a personality type based on your top interests, favorite creators, and viewing habits. For this reason, this feature has increasingly become a topic of discussion among youth and content creators.
