People should stay within their limits…Gautam Gambhir targets IPL team owner and media
New Delhi:The Indian ODI team won the series by defeating South Africa 2-1 in Visakhapatnam on Saturday. After the match, head coach Gautam Gambhir openly expressed his views on many important issues in the press conference. He not only reacted to his criticism, but also accused the owner of an IPL team of crossing the limits.
Gambhir hurt by questions raised on coaching post
Gambhir admitted that the recent Test results have not been in his favor and that is why fingers were raised on his coaching position. He said that he was not expecting such criticism, especially from people who have nothing to do with cricket.
He particularly criticized the owner of an IPL team, who had suggested a ‘separate coach’ for the Indian Test team. Gambhir did not take the name, but the indication was clear that Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal was being discussed.
Gambhir’s sharp attack on IPL owner
Gambhir said that an IPL owner has crossed the limit by suggesting different coaching. People should stay within their limits. If we do not interfere in their work, then they also have no right to speak in our work.
There was immense pressure on Gambhir before the ODI series as the team had recently faltered in Test form. In the last two years, India has suffered clean sweeps in two home Test series, which happened for the first time in history.
Failures in test cricket increased the pressure
During Gautam Gambhir’s tenure, India has lost two out of four home Test series. At the same time, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy also had to be lost in Australia. However, while playing with the youth team in England, India had drawn the series.
Expectations had increased after the home success against West Indies, but the South Africa tour disappointed again. India lost the first Test in two and a half days on a spin-friendly pitch in Kolkata.
Gill’s absence was ignored
Gambhir accused the media that no one raised the issue that the team was playing without its captain and most in-form batsman Shubman Gill. Gill was out injured on the second day itself and could not bat in both the innings.
Gambhir’s statement that everyone was talking about the pitch, but no one said that our captain was not available. The difference was only 30 runs. I don’t make excuses, it doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t present the truth to the world.
Strong comeback in ODI boosted confidence
In the decisive match in Vizag, India achieved the target of 271 runs in just 39.5 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s brilliant century and Kohli-Rohit’s half-centuries gave the team a strong victory. After this victory, relief was visible on Gambhir’s face too.
Now India is going to enter the five-match T20 series starting from December 9, and the team will move forward with good confidence from this victory.
