Reforms are being done with ‘Nation First’ thinking, said – India is moving forward confidently with a new identity

PM Modi: In the HT Leadership Summit 2025 held in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a big statement on the country’s development journey, new model of reforms and India’s global identity. He said that earlier reforms in the country were done “reactionary” i.e. out of compulsion when the situation worsened, but today reforms are being done keeping in mind the national goals.

‘Earlier reforms were done out of compulsion, today they are done with Nation First thinking’

PM Modi said that there was a time when reforms were done for political gains or to handle a crisis.
But now India’s policy has completely changed.

He said-
“Whatever reforms are taking place in India today, they are being done keeping in mind the national goals. Improvement is visible in every sector and India’s growth is stable. For us, the nation comes first.”

‘Today’s work determines tomorrow’s transformation’

PM Modi said that the foundation of the change that is visible in India is built by the work being done today.
He said-
“Today’s performance and today’s improvements are becoming the basis of tomorrow’s change.”

He said that when the people of the country contribute to the development without any hindrance, the transformation of the nation is assured.

‘India’s untapped potential is now becoming the strength of the country’

The PM said that India’s huge potential remained unutilized for years.
He specifically mentioned these areas:

• eastern india
• Village
• Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities
• women power of the country
• India’s youth innovation
• Sea Power and Blue Economy
• space sector

The PM said that the potential of these sectors is now coming to the fore, and this is giving a new direction to India.

‘When we opened the space sector, we started getting results’

Referring to the space sector, the PM said-
“Once the space sector was only in the hands of the government. We opened it up to the private sector and today the country is seeing its results.”

He said that with the entry of private institutions, India’s space economy is growing rapidly and India’s identity is emerging in a new form in the world.

‘Despite geopolitical uncertainty, India is moving forward with confidence’

PM Modi said that today there is an atmosphere of geopolitical crisis and uncertainty in the world, but India is moving ahead with its own identity.

He said-
“India is emerging today with deep confidence. We are moving forward on the strength of our potential, our strength and our vision.”
