CM Yogi strict on power cuts: Two officers suspended, order for 24 hours power supply

Lucknow, 23 May. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed strong displeasure at the officials regarding the electricity crisis amid the ongoing scorching heat in Uttar Pradesh. In the same sequence, after increasing problems of people due to continuous power cuts, UPPCL has issued new instructions to improve the power supply system.

Following the instructions of the Chief Minister, UPPCL has ordered to ensure 24 hours power supply in cities and 18 hours in rural areas. Also, senior officers have been deployed in the field till late night to monitor the electricity system.

In this sequence, 22 superintending and executive engineers have been deployed in different areas in the capital Lucknow from 9 pm to 1 am. Officials have been instructed to constantly monitor the power supply and resolve complaints immediately.

Instructions for immediate disposal of complaints

The Electricity Department has given orders to resolve the complaints received on the 1912 helpline on priority basis. Besides, instructions have also been issued to restore power immediately in case of fault.

Two officers of Ghaziabad and Meerut suspended

Meanwhile, UP Power Transmission Corporation has taken action and suspended Executive Engineer Rahul of Ghaziabad and Yogesh Kumar of Meerut. The department says that negligence in power supply will not be tolerated.

At the same time, Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam has instructed officials of 14 districts to immediately restore power supply in case of breakdown. The department is continuously monitoring at the field level.

Appeal made to consumers also

The electricity department has also appealed to the consumers to remain patient in case of power interruption. The department has also appealed to the people to use electrical appliances only when necessary. Amidst the scorching heat and ever-increasing demand for electricity, the government and the electricity department are continuously monitoring and taking action to keep the system running smoothly.
