The scorching heat continues in many states of North and Central India including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh. The temperature is reaching above 40 degrees. However, rain is wreaking havoc in the Northeast. There is a flood like situation in some areas of Arunachal Pradesh. Strong winds are blowing along with rain in many parts of Himachal Pradesh. Snowfall is occurring in Rohtang Pass and surrounding areas in Kullu district.
According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a heat wave warning in parts of Vidarbha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Telangana, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand between May 24 and 28. There is a severe heat alert in some areas of Uttar Pradesh on 24 May, in Odisha from 24 to 26 May and in Telangana on 24 May. Meanwhile, monsoon is about to arrive soon. Pre-monsoon activities will start from the beginning of June. Before the monsoon, IMD has issued an alert of thunderstorm, storm and rain within the next 22 hours in 15 states. During this time the wind will blow at a speed of 70 kilometers per hour.

The IMD has warned of heavy rainfall in the hilly areas of Coimbatore and Tiruppur as well as Nilgiris, Theni, Dindigul, Erode, Namakkal, Salem, Madurai, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts on May 25 and 26.

Odisha (24 to 25 May): Heat wave alert in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bolangir and Nayagarh districts. There is a warning of strong winds along with thunderstorm and lightning in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack. The wind speed can be 40 to 50 kilometers per hour. Winds can reach 30 to 40 kilometers per hour in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda and Nayagarh.
