Weather May 24: Monsoon arrives soon, stormy rains in 15 states
New Delhi. Weather 24 May 2026: Monsoon is going to arrive soon. After which there is hope of getting relief from this scorching heat. The scorching heat continues in many states of North and Central India including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh. The temperature is reaching above 40 degrees. However, rain is wreaking havoc in the Northeast. There is a flood like situation in some areas of Arunachal Pradesh. Strong winds are blowing along with rain in many parts of Himachal Pradesh. Snowfall is occurring in Rohtang Pass and surrounding areas in Kullu district.
According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a heat wave warning in parts of Vidarbha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Telangana, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand between May 24 and 28. There is a severe heat alert in some areas of Uttar Pradesh on 24 May, in Odisha from 24 to 26 May and in Telangana on 24 May. Meanwhile, monsoon is about to arrive soon. Pre-monsoon activities will start from the beginning of June. Before the monsoon, IMD has issued an alert of thunderstorm, storm and rain within the next 22 hours in 15 states. During this time the wind will blow at a speed of 70 kilometers per hour.

Delhi-NCR (May 24 to 28): Delhi-NCR may be cloudy tomorrow amid scorching heat. Strong winds will feel like a storm. There are chances of light drizzle. There is a possibility of rain with thunder in Patna on May 25. IMD has predicted thunderstorm and rain in Darbhanga, Madhubani, Gaya, Bhagalpur and Purnia districts on May 24-25.

Rajasthan (May 24): Summer continues in Rajasthan. The heat may become more intense from May 24. According to IMD, the weather will remain mainly dry for the next one week. From May 24, the temperature is expected to rise by two-three degrees and a heat wave is expected. A strong dusty wind blowing at a speed of 40-50 kilometers per hour can provide partial relief from the heat.

Nilgiris, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupathur, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai and Kallakuruchi districts are likely to receive heavy rain with thunderstorms and strong winds on Saturday and Sunday. Apart from this, scattered rain may also occur in other districts including Perambalur, Tiruchirappalli, Namakkal, Karur, Dindigul, Theni and Madurai on Saturday. The IMD has warned of heavy rainfall in the hilly areas of Coimbatore and Tiruppur as well as Nilgiris, Theni, Dindigul, Erode, Namakkal, Salem, Madurai, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts on May 25 and 26.

Odisha (24 to 25 May): Heat wave alert in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bolangir and Nayagarh districts. There is a warning of strong winds along with thunderstorm and lightning in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack. The wind speed can be 40 to 50 kilometers per hour. Winds can reach 30 to 40 kilometers per hour in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda and Nayagarh.

Arunachal (May 24): There is a warning of heavy to very heavy rain with thundershowers in Upper Subansiri, Kamle, Kra Dadi, Kurung Kumey, Lower Subansiri, Siang Belt and adjoining districts of Arunachal Pradesh. Many bridges have been washed away due to floods. Houses have been damaged and connectivity has been disrupted in many villages.

Punjab-Haryana (May 24): There is a strong possibility of heat wave in some parts of Punjab-Haryana and Chandigarh. Severe heat wave conditions may occur in some areas of these areas between May 24 and 27. The Meteorological Department has advised people to stay safe.

Kerala (24 to 28 May): IMD has issued ‘Orange’ alert and ‘Yellow’ alert in 6 districts predicting heavy rain in southern parts of Kerala. There is also a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over some parts of Kerala between May 28 and June 3.
