Reportedly, it has become the highest-grossing film in Suriya’s career, breaking the previous record held by Retro. The achievement is noteworthy, especially considering the mostly mixed reviews it has received from critics. Fans have embraced the film, regardless of the criticism.
An except from CE’s review of Karuppu reads, “Every other character in the film is either wasted at best or forgettable at worst, including Swasika and Sshivada, who get thankless roles, and Trisha, who turns back time only to play a character that should have been left behind.”
