Dhananjay Kumar’s report from Dhanrua
Near Lakshmichak village under Dhanrua police station area, a speeding tractor laden with illegal soil hit an 11 thousand volt electricity pole. The collision was so severe that the electric pole broke into two parts, completely disrupting the electricity supply to about 50 villages. After the incident, the tractor driver fled from the spot with the vehicle.
The villagers had to face a lot of trouble in the scorching heat due to interruption of electricity supply. People said that due to no electricity for about 26 hours, the villagers were forced to spend time sitting under trees. During this time, the villagers called many officials and demanded restoration of electricity soon, but the work was delayed a lot.
Villagers said that normally in rural areas, broken poles are replaced in 4 to 5 hours, but in this case, it took 26 hours for the department to install a new pole and restore electricity, due to which people were angry.
However, later 11 thousand lines were restarted by the departmental personnel by installing new poles. The junior engineer said that the power supply has been restored. Piku Kumar and Prem ji pacified the villagers, after which the situation became normal.
