Will treatment for heatwave and heat wave be available under Ayushman Bharat scheme? Know what the rules say, when to get full benefit

Heatwave Treatment: These days, there is extreme heat and heat wave in many parts of the country, due to which people’s health is being adversely affected. The temperature has reached more than 45 degrees Celsius in many areas of Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Central India. In such a situation, a question is arising in the minds of people that if someone gets heatstroke or his condition worsens due to heatwave, can he be treated under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.

Can heatstroke be treated with Ayushman card?

• If you are not aware, then let us tell you that if a person’s condition worsens due to severe heatstroke or heatwave, then his treatment can be done through Ayushman card.
• But this facility is available only when the patient’s condition is serious and it is necessary to admit him to the hospital.

Do all hospitals have a heatwave package?

• However, it is not necessary that every hospital has a separate package for ‘heatwave’ or ‘loo’.
• Usually the patient is admitted on the basis of dehydration, heat stroke, unconsciousness, lack of water and salt in the body (electrolyte imbalance), effect on the kidneys or other serious problems.
• In these situations, treatment may be covered under the Ayushman scheme.

It is necessary to be recruited

It is important to note that the benefit of Ayushman card is not available in case of normal fever, mild cold or only in OPD. But if due to heat stroke the patient has to be admitted to the hospital, put on a drip or kept in the ICU, then the entire cost of that treatment can be covered through the Ayushman card.
