CM Vishnudev Sai participated in Tribal Maha Samagam in Delhi, said- Tribal culture should not be played with, raised demand to pass de-listing law in the country.
New Delhi. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai participated in the Tribal Maha Samagam organized at the historic Red Fort ground in the capital Delhi. A large number of people from the tribal community from across the country attended this program organized under the banner of Tribal Security Forum (JSM) on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda. In the conference, the demand for excluding people who have converted from the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category and implementing the de-listing law was prominently raised.
While talking to the media in this Maha Samagam, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai said that it is a matter of great good fortune that people of tribal society from all over the country have gathered in the country’s capital Delhi and Tribal Culture Samagam has been organized. He said that the population of tribal society in the entire country is more than 12 crores. People of the tribal society, including me, have come together to save their culture, identity and customs.

Chief Minister Sai said that for the last few days, heretic people have been trying to fragment and crush the tribal culture and traditions. In such a situation, today the tribal community from all over the country wants to gather here and call that enough is enough, our culture should not be played with, our customs should not be broken and the de-listing law should be passed in this country.
What is the demand for delisting?
Tribal organizations demand that those who have converted to religion and have separated from the traditional tribal culture, customs, deities and social system, should be excluded from the ST list. He says that the reservation and protection given to the tribal community in the Constitution was to protect their unique cultural identity and traditional lifestyle, and not to get permanent benefits even after changing their religion. Organizations allege that in the past decades, large-scale conversions were carried out in tribal areas through missionary activities. People were taken away from their roots by taking advantage of poverty, illiteracy and social backwardness. Now the feeling is getting stronger within the tribal society that those who have separated from their original traditions should not get the benefits of ST reservation.
People of tribal communities from all over the country including Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and North-Eastern states have reached Delhi to participate in this Mahasamagam. At many places, rallies were taken out with traditional costumes and musical instruments and people were sent to Delhi. Organizers claim that this could prove to be the biggest show of tribal strength in recent years.
